Swimwear brands including Jets, Isola by Megan Gale, Seafolly, Aqua Blu, Gorman, Tigerlily, Baku and Alannah Hill’s swimwear collection launched their designs this month. These are among dozens offering versions of the iconic style popularised by Hollywood bombshells Rita Hayworth, Lana Turner, Esther Williams and Marilyn Monroe in the 1940s and 1950s.

Designer Lisa Gorman said that girls are loving it because it’s fashion forward, but also comfortable and practical. It is also feminine, which is really strong in fashion, plus it emphasizes the figure, its quite supportive, and for the most part in vintage style prints.

Gorman launched her first versions of the bombshell three summers ago and realised instantly she had a hit on her hands as she sold three times as many of them than the smaller, basic bottom.

David Bush, David Jones womenswear general manager, has also reported a brisk business for the bombshell, but predominantly among the younger women. He said that they have definitely seen a rebirth of the high-waisted designs.

At Myer, on the other hand, the look is still limited to more daring customers. Womenswear buyer Vicki Kordatou, said that the styles sold well except that they are still being worn by the fashion-savvy consumers who are not afraid to make a statement at the beach. She also suggests that for those less daring, a hipster brief or tie-side bikini pant is still a very popular option for them to acquire.

According to reports, the New Zealander will be travelling using a jet ski for up to twelve hours per day over a four month period as he goes the distance from the European city to his homeland.

The 51-year old airline pilot has been riding jet skis for more than ten years and considers it his favorite hobby when not flying passenger jets. He will make it to the history books should he manage to complete this great feat, travelling a total distance of 32,000 kilometers.

He will be accompanied by four men, two of which will ride jet skis beside him during the duration of their challenge. Their jet skis will have advanced technical equipment to document the route of travel, as well as being stocked with the basic necessities, like food and camping accessories.

Both parties have agreed to make a comprehensive program that will encourage online citizenship. However, they are stressing on the reduction of cyberbullying, promoting advanced online security and safety.

The details of the program are still not complete. However, Facebook officials revealed that it is committing about $1 million through promotions of this program in the site. The race, sponsored by Honolua Surf Co, started at eight in the morning. The event featured a five and a half mile and one mile course that leads the competitors in the pier area.

The event is for the benefit for Heal the Bay, a locally-based non-profit organization that’s dedicated to the preservation of California’s coastal waters.

Honolua Surf Co’s Pat Fraley said that they were impressed with the huge turnabout at the event with many paddleboarding aficionados from all ages taking part or simply witnessing a resurgence of this sport.

More than 200 participants were present at the paddleboarding competition in their swimsuits.

About 23 nude snorkelers with ten naked swimmers who did not go snorkeling with ages ranging from 19 to 60 took part in this feat. Organizers had expected an attendance of more than one hundred. The event which was part of the global celebrations for World Oceans Day aims to raise awareness to the world about the reefs.

Base Backpackers organized the nude snorkeling activity at Nelly Bay Beach. General Manager Ben Schultz said that the snorkelers avoided the nearby fish feeding station in the beach because the sergeant major reef fishes are said to be congregating in the area and are hungry at this time of the year.

According to reports, the RNLI lifeguards will be spearheading the Hit the Surf program, which teaches kids aged eight to twelve on the values of beach safety.

RNLI Divisional Beach Safety Manager Dave Gorman said that they are optimistic that relaying the knowledge to the kids would potentially save a lot of lives. He added that the Hit the Surf sessions have been designed to be fun and encourages the participants to be active.

Gorman said that bodyboarding is a very popular activity among kids at the beach. It is with this reason that they will incorporate the teaching of proper bodyboarding to the kids so that they can avoid danger and untoward incidents.

The program will start this week at Hayle and Fistral beaches in Cornwall.

According to the press release, Crowley has more than two decades worth of experience in executive management which makes him a qualified person for the job. He will start his post on June 1 where he will work part time for the meantime.

USA Water Ski President Jim Grew said that they are excited to bring Bob Crowley on board in their organization. He’s looking forward to the new Executive Director in bringing the organization to the next level of development.

Crowley recently served as Executive Director of US Speedskating. His stint with that organization started in 2006 and ended at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games held in Vancouver, Canada.
